LONDON: 2 days of Summer

1st Day

03:00 PM

When we landed to Stansted Airport it was almost 03:00 PM. First we headed to an airport market to get a Sim Card to use cellular data when were in UK.  Be careful to ask sim card pack details when you buy because some of the campaigns may be expired.

04:00 PM

We hopped to a train going to London Liverpool Street from London Standsted Airport. If you are here for the first time you will feel that stagnated wasn’t that close to central London like it seems it on the map. So We think trains are more comfortable and quicker than the busses, for your information.

06:00 PM

We have arrived home in Manor Park. Lovely room from a lovely couple’s house with a sweet cat. Here is the airbnb link for you to see details:

How to go Westminster (District 1) from Manor Park (District 4)

First we have waited for 10 minutes to get in number 11 Double Decker Bus at Manor park. Then we jumped off the bus in Maryland and caught the tube going Stratford. Interchanged in Stratford and got in the line passing by Holborn. From Holborn we preferred to walk to Westminster because this way we were able to see more and more.

We have stared at amazing architecture of Big Ben for a while. The roads across The River Thames, Buildings, Carefully spotted cafes and clean gardens.

It was all clear and so British.

I will add our polaroids here later, we took 2 wrong light polaroids in front of Big Ben which looks hilarious because our faces pops so good haha!

08:00 PM

A short walk to waterloo, we have found a Starbucks and charged our phones for 15 minutes. Checked our location, and planned where else we can go. We have decided to go back home after eating our dinner picnic while taking timelapse of London Eye.

11:00 PM

While going back home we used two underground, and in 15-20 minutes we were back to Manor park from Westminster. Awesome news: it was so easy to go everywhere by tubes in london, there are no long walking distances between Underground Stations.

2nd Day

07:00 AM

WOKE UP to a chill morning. London’s weather was so in the middle. Back in İstanbul in 3rd of July, we were melting away. There in London we were breathing finally. Loved the weather in summer. Luckily it never rained or got cloudy for 2 days.

08:30 AM

We headed to KEW GARDENS! We planned to be there by 10:00 AM and made it! yaaay! 🙂

You will se when watching our video, we have had a bench breakfast with bananas, coffee, gluten free biscuits, rice cakes, avocado toast and chocolates. Lucky me I was in a gluten free heaven. We always have found some gluten free treats and plant based products in UK along our journeys.

long tree path in Kew Royal Gardens

12:00 AM

We enjoyed every part of botanical gardens of Kew. Hugged the trees, almost rolled on the grassesi chased squirrels and got crazy while taking photographs.

The Hive in Kew Gardens

The Hive is a unique, multi-sensory experience designed to highlight the extraordinary life of bees. A feat of British engineering, it stands 17 metres tall, set in a wildflower meadow. (watch from here detailed Hive:

The Hive is an immersive sound and visual experience. The lights you see and the sounds you hear inside The Hive are triggered by bee activity in a real beehive at Kew.

The intensity of the sounds and light change constantly, echoing that of the real beehive. The multi award-winning Hive was inspired by scientific research into the health of honeybees. It is a visual symbol of the pollinators’ role in feeding the planet and the challenges facing bees today.

03:00 PM

After long satisfying hours in Kew Gardens we have gone Oxford Street by underground. We have walked and watched the big brands’ and the crowd. Well to be honest this street wasn’t for us, we hate this much crowd, *headaches*.

04:00 PM

We have found our drone at Apple Store in Covent Garden.

Headed to Tower Bridge to have dinner. Strada saved us, we couldn’t find a proper and also not too expensive place so quickly.

What we ate in Strada?

Pizza for Mert, veggie risotto for me & some baked potatoes with thyme. We also enjoyed glass of rose wine with a view of thames and the sunset coloured Tower Bridge.

I have pinned almost all places we hve seen on the map down below at the end of the blog post.

To use underground (subway) in london, you need a pass card which is called OYSTER card. It’s a quick and easy way to pay for journeys on bus, Tube, tram, DLR, London Overground, TfL Rail, River Bus and most National Rail services in London. You can get it either when you come to an underground station or online to take it later. We topped it up 25 pounds for 2 days I guess.

A Visitor Oyster card costs £3 (plus postage) and is pre-loaded with pay as you go credit for you to spend on travel.

  • Important Info: Only touch in with your Visitor Oyster card on the yellow card reader when asked to do so by a member of staff and remember to touch out again at the end of your journey. If you don’t touch out when you arrived your destination, your route would cost more that it is.
  • note that: COSTA is well known as Starbucks and so alike to it here in UK.
